The guiding mission of the International School of Amsterdam (ISA) is 'To educate for international understanding'. One of the ways in which ISA students develop intercultural understanding of world issues is through ISA's Service Learning initiatives; the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) program for IB Diploma students (learn more) and the Service as Action program for Middle Years' students (learn more).
Through these programs, students actively engage in, explore and reflect on their choice of community service activities in ways that enriches their learning experience and gives them a sound understanding of how they can strengthen communities and impact social change.
SHARE supports students in these endeavours. The money SHARE raises through its various events and activities is used ro provide seed-funding for student projects and to deliver match funding for money raised by students through their own initiatives. SHARE also encourages students to develop new skills and experiences by joining volunteer teams to help organise and run SHARE fund raising events.
